Sekiro Gets an Anime, Snake Gets New Merch, and Helldivers Going Full Star Wars
Welcome back to Hypegeek - your monthly drop where games refuse to stay in their lane.
This time around we’re talking Sekiro heading to streaming, an official Snake merch line, and a South African studio flipping looting on its head.
We’ve also got an indie passion project that clawed its way into the spotlight and isn’t letting go.
And a co-op shooter that decided friendly fire wasn’t enough, so it leaked a brand new planet-killer weapon.

Sekiro Respawns as Anime
FromSoftware’s fight to the death is getting animated. Sekiro: No Defeat shows off the sleeker, more cinematic side of Wolf. No spoilers here, and no AI, just hand drawn action from top to bottom. Make sure to check out the trailer first for a sneak peek.

SNAAAKE Goes Official
We’re not just getting a remake. We’re getting a whole new lineup of MGS gear. GameStop is releasing an official MGS Snake Eater collection line licensed by Konami that includes customizable controller bundles, mice, headsets, and also some insane collectable display pieces like a terrarium.
📖 Gaming Facts, Cultural Moments & History
Reverse Heist: Return the Loot
This South African indie title 360s the museum script - your quest isn’t to steal, it’s to bring stolen culture home. A serious blend of art history + game design here combined with a super relevant concept. It’s at the top of my list to play next.

Expedition 33: AA Title Punching Up In Weight Class
It’s like a passion project with a JRPG heart, and indie hunger that crashed into a Gauguin painting. Everything feels very modern - great combat system, super bold art direction, and a soundtrack that feels like it’s getting even more attention than the game itself. It’s redefining what new “big” JRPG looks and feels like.
More on the game, and it’s soundtrack here.

Helldivers 2 Might Have Just Got Its Death Star Moment
Rumors are flying - Super Earth’s arsenal is going galactic with a weapon strangely resembling the iconic Star Wars’ Death Star. No word on when it’ll be released yet, but for a game already fueled by endless amounts of chaos - this one seems to be very on brand. Check out what the early concept art of that mega death ball looks like here.
